Deep fakes
Keep yourself, friends, and family safe by being aware of AI and deepfake scams:
- Prepare ahead of time by establishing a secret word or phrase, like “Ice Cream” or “Daffodil” that only your family/friends know and can be referenced to ensure that you’re talking with the real person – not an impersonator or AI fake.
- Use email and phone number spam filters that can block many fraudulent or unwanted spam messages.
- Give out your contact info carefully – data brokers may buy your information from companies and re-sell them to unwanted 3rd parties. Make sure that you only give your contact information to trusted organizations and opt out of data sharing if you so chose.
